Effortless Recruiting from Reviews by Workampers
You're busy. There's a lot to do all the time. But adding one more little thing now could lead to an easier time recruiting your Workampers in the future.
Whether you're nearing the end of your busy season or just beginning it - here's something that all Employers should implement to help improve their image in the Workamping community and draw more attention:
Ask your Workampers to post a review about their Workamping experience with you!
Now, I know the word "review" can instigate a groan or rolling of the eyes. As a business operator, I know how frustrating it is that there's all these avenues (on the internet) where someone can criticize about your operation - whether true or exaggerated.
But...most of the time, POSITIVE REVIEWS can be posted in the same place.
And, if there's 10-to-1 positve reviews to negative, the good will drown out the bad.
So, when you're doing an exit interview with your Workampers, a finale gathering, or via email after they've gone - ask them to please take a moment and write up some details about their experience with you. You could even include a statement/request in your Work Agreement/Letter of Understanding that you have each Workamper sign at the beginning of the season. Another idea is to incentivize it, by doing a drawing for a prize from the list of names of all of your Workampers who submit a review.
There are two avenues in the Workamper News system that Workampers can use to share about their Workamping experiences, and then there are others that are not associated with WKN.
Workamper News Tool #1 - Praise Your Employer
-- Workamper adds one star award for the year he/she worked for you if it was a positive experience. Researching Workampers can click on your star awards to see the email address of the Workamper(s) who awarded the star, then contact them with questions. This is not a rating system. The Workamper must be a Workamper Diamond or Platinum member. (Employer Gold members can access this tool.)
Workamper News Tool #2 - Workamper Experiences
-- Started in 2007. Workampers can type up a description of their Workamping experience - good, bad or otherwise. All posts are reviewed by WKN staff before being made active or disaproved. The Workamper must be a Workamper Diamond or Platinum member. (Employer Gold members can access this tool.)
Facebook Groups (not associated with Workamper News)
-- There are multiple groups on Facebook. Some are friendly to Employers joining but most are not. If your Facebook profile doesn't indicate your business, you may be approved to join. Free for anyone to use.
Looking at reviews (acquiring "social proof") is something that we as a society are doing more and more each day. Instead of being apprehensive about these tools and websites, use them to your advantage!! Get your Workampers to participate and help make your operation stand out above the others.
