Wide-Open Adventuring: How This Workamper Family Embraced RV Life

For many, Workamping represents freedom – the chance to leave behind routines and embrace something wide open, adventurous, and new. In this profile, one Workamper shares how stepping out of a sheltered life led to discovering the possibilities of the road.

By Michael Mooney

The Mooney family is a traveling family of four and our dog, Lilith – collectively known as the D20Nomads. We made the lifestyle change to full time RVing in the spring of 2015 and never looked back choosing homeschooling over public schooling, wide open adventuring over narrow sheltered living, and free-thinking over following a prescribed path.

We are the kind of family who want to explore and experience the land and people around us. As a younger family taking this journey, we have learned so much about what life has to offer. We are always looking for new ideas and chances to grow, not only as people, but also our knowledge.

The Mooney family enjoys all things geeky and sci-fi; from shows and movies to games of all kinds, we enjoy having as much fun as we can and want to travel all around the country and eventually throughout Canada, Central, and South America. We are willing and able to take on all kinds of work and certainly do not mind getting our hands dirty.

Workamping has allowed us to move from place to place and keep our dreams alive. We have traveled up and down the east coast, extensively through the south and south west, as well as the Midwest and central states. All the while we have been able to feed our lifestyle through housekeeping, customer service, warehouse work, and even amusement parks.

It is not impossible to live life on the road and make a living doing it. One of the best parts of living our life is finding so many like minded younger families enjoying the same lifestyle as we do; people who are willing to make small sacrifices in order to provide a better life for their family.

Workamping is the perfect fit for employer and employee alike. The business gain a reliable, trustworthy, hard working person or couple to fill the vital roles in their company and the Workampers gain life and work experience enjoying life on their terms.

Without Workamping and the opportunities it continues to provide our family, our dreams would have ended before they began.

This journey highlights the courage it takes to trade comfort for adventure and the rewards that come with embracing change. If yo’ve chosen Workamping as your own path to freedom, we’d love to share your story in a future profile.
