5 Simple Tips to Improve Your Workamper Resume

Updated September 2025

When it comes to landing the best Workamping jobs, your resume is your first impression. Employers often scroll through dozens of resumes, and a generic or incomplete one can easily get overlooked. The good news? With just a few small updates, you can make your Workamper Resume stand out and increase your chances of getting hired.

Here at Workamper News, we see thousands of resumes every year. Our step-by-step Resume Builder helps Workampers create professional profiles geared toward the adventures they seek.

Here are five simple ways to strengthen your Workamper Resume and show employers you’re ready for the job.

1. Answer Resume Questions Clearly and Concisely

On the new version of Workamper.com (launched in November 2025), we’ve replaced the old “Sell Yourself” section on the Resume Builder with direct questions about your skills, preferences, and background. This change helps employers quickly find the information they care about most – and helps you avoid writing an overwhelming wall of text.

Take time to give clear, relevant answers. Think about what an employer would want to know. The more directly you answer, the easier it is for employers to see if you’re a good match.

2. Highlight Relevant Experience and Skills

Even if your past work wasn’t in an RV park or campground, many skills still transfer. Customer service, maintenance, office work, hospitality, volunteer experience, even just maintaining a household or property – all can show employers you’re capable and adaptable.

Focus on the tasks and skills you used. For example:

  • Handled guest check-ins and reservations
  • Performed light maintenance and landscaping
  • Assisted with inventory and retail sales

To stand out even more, tailor your resume to the job you’re applying for. If an employer is hiring for campground hosts, emphasize your hospitality and customer service skills. If they’re looking for maintenance help, lead with your handyman experience. Aligning your resume with the job description shows you’re paying attention and positions you as the perfect fit for their needs.

Pro tip: Our Workamper Resume builder allows you to include up to four people on one resume. That means couples or partners can showcase their combined skills together, and families with working-age children can create a single resume that highlights everyone’s strengths in one place.

3. Keep Your Resume Updated

One of the most common mistakes Workampers make is letting their resume go stale. If it hasn’t been updated in a year or two, employers may assume you’re not active or available.

The Resume Search feature for our Employer members shows the most recently updated resumes first, so be sure to keep your resume up to date.

Be sure to update your resume regularly:

  • Add new job history entries
  • Refresh your availability dates
  • Adjust your preferences

A current resume tells employers you’re serious about finding the right opportunity now, not “someday.”

4. Proofread Your Resume

This may seem silly to mention, but it’s an often-overlooked step! Once you feel like you’re “done” with your Workamping resume, please be sure to give it a thorough read. Email it to yourself, download it as a PDF, print it, or just view it in it’s completed form on the website.

Most importantly, double-check your contact information. We’ve seen Workampers miss opportunities because of a small typo in their email address.

5. Get Feedback From Friends & Family

Sometimes it’s hard to “toot your own horn.” A fresh set of eyes can help. Ask a few friends or family members to read through your resume. They may:

  • Catch errors you missed
  • Point out industry jargon that isn’t clear
  • Suggest strengths or qualities you forgot to include

Outside feedback can make your resume stronger and more complete.

Take the Next Step Toward Your Dream Job

Your Workamper Resume doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. By answering questions thoughtfully, highlighting transferable skills, and keeping it current, you’ll stand out from the crowd.

The best part? You don’t have to start from scratch. At Workamper.com, members can build a professional Workamper Resume that employers can search and view instantly. Take a few minutes today to update yours – your next great RV job could be just around the corner.
