How to Write Workamping Employer Reviews

5 Star Workamping Job Reviews

When searching for your next Workamping job on Workamper.com, reading reviews from fellow Workampers can be invaluable. Honest, detailed reviews help the community make informed decisions about employers and jobs. Sharing your own experiences not only supports other Workampers but also contributes to a trusted resource for future job seekers.

Why Employer Reviews Matter for Workampers

Building Trust in the Community

Employer reviews on Workamper.com provide firsthand insights into what it’s like to work specific jobs. They allow prospective Workampers to evaluate positions based on real experiences – what worked, what didn’t, and what to expect. By sharing your honest experiences, you’re contributing to a trusted resource that benefits the entire Workamping community.

Helping Others Make Informed Choices

Since 2007, Workamper News has been compiling reviews from people who have worked these jobs, and our website links to those reviews as part of a company’s help wanted ad in our Hotline system. These reviews are found on the Employer Profiles on Workamper.com and can help you decide whether to apply for a job or consider other options.

This feature is accessible to all Workamper Seeker and Pro members of Workamper News. Dreamer members can upgrade their memberships to unlock this tool and read or write reviews.

How to Write an Effective Workamping Review

Writing a review is relatively easy. But, you shouldn’t just spout off in a way people won’t take you seriously. It might feel good to unload your feelings about a bad situation, but without context, it’s not really helpful.

In reality, most people do not read or give credence to one-star or very negative reviews. They view them as being written by someone with an axe to grind. Nor do people tend to trust short “everything was wonderful” reviews.

Workampers want to read honest reviews that weigh the good and the bad about working for an employer. After all, when you’re evaluating a prospective employer, wouldn’t you want to know that information, too? Having more detail helps a reader evaluate things from their perspective – what’s right/wrong for one person may not be right/wrong for another.

People can currently read reviews of more than 800 employers in the Workamper Experiences tool at Workamper.com. The majority of them are overall positive, and include a good mix of information about what Workampers liked and didn’t like about the job.

To be effective, reviews need to be objective and should encompass your experience through an entire season. Your impression of people and the company can change over time. The best time to write the review is a day or two after completing the job. Here are some tips to ensure your review is useful and professional:

8 Tips for Writing Effective Workamping Reviews

  1. Be Honest and Detailed: Share your personal experience with the job, focusing on both the positives and areas for improvement. Keep in mind is that the review must be written from your perspective, based on what you alone experienced.
  2. Provide a Timeline: Mention the months and year you worked for the employer. For example, instead of saying “2024,” write “May through October 2024.”
  3. Use Descriptive Language: Provide context to your feedback. For instance, instead of saying “the coworker was a jerk,” write: “My coworker often spent half the shift playing on their phone, which made team tasks frustrating.”
  4. Balance the Good and the Bad: Highlight what you enjoyed about the job and provide constructive feedback on areas that could be improved. Even if the overall experience was negative, please be sure to include positive examples of things you really liked on the job. For example, you might say something like, “Although the noise from the nearby highway made it difficult to sleep at times and the manager was often in a bad mood, the owners listened to our input, provided us with the tools we needed to do our jobs effectively, did not micromanage, and got to know us on a personal level at appropriate times. That made me feel welcome and appreciated.”
  5. Mention the Area: Include insights about the location, local attractions, or restaurants you loved. For example, mention if you enjoyed nearby hiking trails or local diners.
  6. End with a Recommendation: Indicate whether or not you would Workamp there again. While it’s fine to move on after one season, readers appreciate knowing if you’d consider returning.

What NOT to Do When Writing a Review

Just as it’s important to know how to write an effective review, it’s equally important to know what to avoid. Here are some “don’ts” to keep in mind:

  1. Don’t Write Based on Hearsay: Avoid making claims based on what others told you. Focus only on your firsthand experience.
    • Example to Avoid: “A co-worker told me that the manager is rude.”
    • Better: “I heard the manager speak to other Workampers in ways I thought were rude.”
  2. Don’t Be Vague or General: Statements like “the job was bad” or “everything was perfect” are unhelpful. Provide specific examples to back up your claims. Replace vague statements like “Workampers only work 10 hours a week” with specifics: “My spouse and I each worked 10 hours a week during our time there.”
  3. Don’t Use Names: Protect privacy by referring to individuals by their roles or titles (e.g., “the owner,” “the manager”).
  4. Don’t Vent Emotionally: Avoid overly negative or angry language. Emotional outbursts can make your review seem less credible.
    • Example to Avoid: “This was the worst job ever, and I hated every minute of it.”
    • Better: “I found some aspects of the job challenging, such as managing tight deadlines.”
  5. Don’t Overpromise or Make Assumptions: Conditions may change over time, so avoid making guarantees.
    • Example to Avoid: “You’ll get a free RV site with 50-amp power.”
    • Better: “During my stay, I received an RV site with 50-amp power in exchange for hours worked, but I recommend confirming the current policy with the employer.”
  6. Don’t Include Personal Grievances: Avoid turning your review into a personal attack or airing unrelated frustrations. Stick to job-specific feedback.
  7. Don’t Skip the Positives: Even if your experience was less than ideal, include something positive. Balanced reviews are more trustworthy.

How to Structure Your Workamping Review

Follow this simple framework to write an informative and engaging review:

  1. Identify the employer by business name and location.
  2. Indicate when you worked for the company, including the months and year.
  3. Describe your job, including the title and specific duties.
  4. Start by mentioning what you liked about the job and employer.
  5. Highlight areas that could be improved and explain why.
  6. Provide details about your RV site (if applicable), such as location and amenities.
  7. Share what you enjoyed about the surrounding area or any memorable experiences.
  8. End by stating whether or not you would work for the company again.

Challenges With Other Review Platforms

While social media platforms host some Workamping reviews, finding reliable and specific employer insights can be challenging. These platforms often bury helpful posts beneath unrelated content due to their algorithms, making it harder to locate detailed reviews for specific Workamping jobs.

Even then, you can’t always verify whether a review describes a real situation or if it was written with ulterior motives. On Workamper.com, reviews are submitted only by verified Workampers with Seeker or Pro memberships, ensuring authenticity.

Pay It Forward: Leave a Review

Chances are you’ve read reviews before making decisions about products to buy, places to visit, or jobs to accept. Show your appreciation for those reviews by paying it forward. Leave honest, thoughtful reviews about jobs you’ve held to help others make informed decisions.

Your reviews don’t just benefit the community – they create a stronger, more supportive Workamping network. Log in to Workamper.com today and contribute your experiences.

Note – Workamper News (Workamper.com) does not offer, and does not plan to offer, the ability for an employer to write a review about an individual Workamper.

Every review you share helps strengthen the Workamper community by giving others the insight they need to make confident choices. Whether your experience was positive or challenging, your honest feedback is valuable. Take a few minutes to leave a review – it could be the guidance another Workamper is looking for before starting their next adventure.
