Volunteer
– and Make a Difference!
Volunteers are welcome at many locations in the National Wildlife Refuge System, Fisheries, Ecological Services, and other Fish and Wildlife Service offices. Some work fulltime, some a few hours per week or month, or during a particular season or special event.
At some areas, housing or RV pads may be available for use in return for a set amount of volunteer hours. Generally, no special skills are needed to be a volunteer. Any on -the-job training will be provided if needed. Your individual talents and skills will be appreciated and put to good use!
Volunteers perform
a wide variety of interesting tasks: conducting fish and wildlife
population surveys, leading tours and providing information and interpretation
to the visiting public, assisting in laboratory research, taking part
in special projects, such as bird banding, assisting in habitat modification
projects, such as developing freshwater impoundments, performing clerical
and administrative duties, working with computers and other technical
equipment, and photographing a variety of natural and cultural resources.
